I do it from Europe to system in USA using ciscos VPN.
VPN serer at other end, VPN clinet on my machine (inside a VMware machine btw)
The client now thinks it is on LAN in USA;
Just connect as if I were sitting right there on LAN
Is Cool, can make PLC changes to live plant a other side of world !!

Sorry, I connect to the remote site using a VPN client. This provides "a tunnel" from my home LAN to the sites LAN and puts my machine on the remote LAN just as if I was sitting in the remote location. The VPN Client I use is CISCOs.
Then Control Logix V18 just connects as if I was programming over a local ethernet connection.
The remote site has a VPN server (my VPN client conects to it). The VPN tunnel then sends information over the Internet in an encrypted form.
For My client I use a Windows XP SP3 machine with Control Logix installed on it.
