Post by milovanmaric » Thu Dec 23, 2010 11:00 am

Hello to group,

I am new here, so it is possible that I will make some mistake in beginning so do not mad on me.
I am interested for schematic diagram of mini-converter from GE FANUC 90-30 communication cable IC690ACC901, it is RS232 to RS485 converter.
I was already search on Google and in Ge Fanuc page, but except final product I did not found any diagram or schematic, or some web page.
Is any of you guys maybe work with GE Fanuc 90-30 PLC, I need to made for me this converter, I had damage this mini converter, so question is any on web schematic of this?

Thanks.

hi milovanmaric

try this cable it is a direct cable you do not need a converter
9 pin-female 15 pin-male
RD 2 ------------------- 12 SD+
TD 3 ------------------- 10 RD+
SG 5 ------------------- 7 SG
RTS 7---l jumper l--- 6 RTS+
CTS 8---l l---15 CTS+
DTR 4---l jumper l--- 8 CTS-
DSR 6---l l---14 RTS-
i tried this and it works good.

good luck
(thnx) (thnx) (thnx)

It would be nice to see what exactly you are trying to connect and how. Thing is that RS232 normally connects only two devices. If you need to connect 3 or more you have to use RS485. There is no cable to convert RS232 to RS485. You need a special adapter which is called RS285-RS485 converter. I have used Black Box adapter with GE micro PLC connected to two Versa Motion servo drives. Connection was no problem but kinda slow (highest speed rate is 38400 b/s). Here is the link for the Black Box adapter:
http://www.blackbox.com/Store/Detail.as ... ter/IC820A

You can get one from Ebay for about $10-20.
I can give a pinout of RS232 adapter if needed for Versa Micro to Versa Motion. Anyhow let me know what you are trying to do I will try to help. English or Russian is fine. Send request through Private Messages.

Thank you guys for answers, I was time less to check messages.

hmohamed thank you for schematic, I will make this for few days.

Hi OrionK,

I found that is in some case possible to connect laptop with PLC without converter. I need to connect my laptop with rs232 port to GE Fanuc 90-30 PLC, so I can change some part of program. My converter is out, some guys drop some tolls on my bag, converter was on the bag. I use Versa Pro 2.03 or 2.3, I am not sure exactly now. So in this moment until I bought new converter, I need to found out some solution for connecting on PLC.

Any help is helpful.

With regards, Milovan
