[?]: Inverter SEW-EuroDrives Movitools via Step 7

Post by Tcp » Sun Mar 23, 2008 1:43 am

I have few SEW drives on a profibus network with Step 7.
Is there anyone with experience to connect to SEW drives via MPI?
It's called Movitools via Step7 MPI.
Any help is appreciated.

S7 Sample projects in 2nd search page
S7 Sample project: "MOVIMOT® drive inverter on PROFIBUS DP"
version: 1.0
This S7 sample project demonstrates how to incorporate the MOVIMOT® inverter series in the SIMATIC S7 world. A module (either FC110 or FC111) can be used to control the MOVIMOT® drive inverters on PROFIBUS in conjunction with the MFP interface converter.

Profibus connection to Step 7 is working fine.
Ususally to change parameters in the SEW drive you need to connect to the drive directly using a serial or USB cable with Movitools software.
I am using Movidrives.
What I want to do is to connect Movitools software to SEW drives via MPI-->Profibus-->Movidrive.
In this way I can access all the SEW drives on the Profibus network with out moving my computer from drive to drive.
There is a SEW manual for it called "Movitools via Step 7 MPI".
I bought the software from SEW to create the Hardware Data block.
Then some steps in the manual is not so clear to me.
I thought at least some one in Europe has done this before.
Hope You understand my application. Regards

For connecting SEW-Movitools via MPI -S7CPU-PB you need
to setup FBs from SEW in your S7-Progy to reach your drives.

The better and most reliable way is a CP5512 on your laptop
and to connect Step7 via Profibus, then the Movitools/Movilink
is able to comunicate direct with the drives over PB.
(without altering the Step7-Prog)

good luck!

The CP5512 is a pcmcia card to make it possible to connect the notebook PC to the PLC via Profibus/MPI.
It is used to communicate with the profibus network.
