[?]: Connect Schneider ATS22D32Q to Siemens CPU 315-2 DP

Post by madnesssm » Thu Nov 01, 2012 5:57 pm

Hi all,
i need help about connecting soft starter Schneider ATS22D32Q to Siemens CPU 315-2 DP.
Problem is that soft starter has only RJ45 connector and CPU only RS232/485 connector.
I thouht to by RJ45 to RS285 cable and connect them.
Will it work?
How to configure my CPU in HW configuration to communicate over MODBUS, 'cause that is type of soft starter communication protocol and physical interface is RS485, and i don't know what it's mean.
Please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks

Dear,

Siemens PLC is not free for communicate with Modbus protocol event RS232/485.
If you see the Siemens catalog for the ModbusRTU configuration, The Modbus Master / Modbus Slave also Ptp (Point to Point) installer (you can download free on siemens website) are not single standing software.
It need the CP34X Siemens module (almost USD 800) and Loader Dongle driver (almost USD 1600) for work with the Modbus protocol.
One dongle only for one CP34X.
Another solution and not to take the big money by using CP34X without the dongle loader.
You can buy from the http://www.runmode.com for unlimited soft driver configuration of Modbus Master/Slave with the prices USD 325.44.

There is a cheaper solution when you have a S7-300 and you must have a Modbus RTU.
http://www.anybus.com x-gateway

http://www.anybus.com/products/products ... mmunicator

http://www.acpd.co.uk/sei/s/1488/f208.pdf

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HMS-AB7000-ABC- ... 0725820060

This devic acts like a Profibus slave node to S7-300 (primary network connection), and acts too like a Modbus RTU Master to ATS (secondary network connection).
