[?]: STEP7 5.5 - project constants and protection

Post by Linkinx64 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 6:20 am

Has anybody can explain what is "S7 project constants"?
How can I reach constants using STEP-7 5.5?
Is it possible to protect constants from editing? How?

Comprehensible answers are appreciated.

step 7 does not support the use of constant (like in C for ex)
but is possible use a DB for save a value and use that.
is not the same thing. I understand, most of it can not be.

step7 it could be improved a lot, but there are more than 15 years, which is always the same. each version does not change anything always use more disk space but nothing more.
It is probably a fashion

I have many ideas about what could be done to migliorere the product but unfortunately they are responsible for the development of step7 .... tia portal now .....
Bahh hope for a miracle.

PS if Siemens wants to hire as responsible for the development of the programming software .... We can discuss the price;) :D :D :D :D :D :D

I was started this topic by PM request to remove or reveal password from Step 7 project.
I couldn't find any password popups in the project... later requester said that password requested only in online mode (when Step7 connected to the PLC).
So the request has been cancelled (I don't have any Siemens hardware to try).

A constants are exist in Step 7. Sure not the same like in C... Stored in project and in PLC both.
Anyway, thanks for the reply!

About siemens software: this is rather a company marketing strategy than the developer fault that software doesn't change within 15 years.
Siemens is not a monopoly in PLC/SCADA market and can't allow experiments such as release principally new software. Such as (for example) Microsoft can allow.
Have a chance than new invention get fault. As result - loss of marked -> money losses -> cut personnel -> etc.
